The Daily Show’s new host, Trevor Noah, may be the perfect person to help us prepare for our new dictator president, Trump. Politicians have always been a bit, how shall we say, weak on the old honesty meter, truth deficient, ... (with a few notable exceptions — PBO, for example). But the president elect has been honing his con man skills for so long that his moral compass — his honesty meter — is completely busted.
He is surrounding himself with advisers and surrogates who are similarly ethically challenged. Why wouldn’t he? He loves himself, so of course he wants to be surrounded by mini-me’s.
Trevor Noah points out something that we haven't seen quite yet, in any politician. It’s coming. And it’s going to turn our country upside down for a while. He’s spot on with his analysis — and no one else has so adeptly displayed the essence of Kelly Ann and Reince in the Trump circus.
Be prepared — be mentally prepared. It’s a huge shift from where we have been for the past 8 years. We had a President we could trust to speak carefully, thoughtfully, and honestly. Going forward we will have a president who will happily lie to the American public whenever it suits his personal ego or interests.
